We Rise

We Rise is a rich collection of stories that truly celebrate the mountaintops and share the valleys of the African American woman's experience; highlighting her moments of strength, as well as her struggles. In centering Black women's stories, the unique ability to make their own communities while combating centuries of oppression is an essential component in our continued resistance to systemic racism and sexism. We Rise shines light on the United States' undeniable truths far beyond a single narrative to showcase Black women's lives in all their complexities. Author Jasmine Poole prioritizes many voices: single mothers, widows, religious leaders, politicians, lawyers, doctors, nurses, breast cancer survivors, activists, and women who bear unimaginable scares. The result is a starting point for exploring Black women's history and a testament to the beauty, richness, rhythm, tragedy, heartbreak, rage, and enduring love that abounds in the spirit of Black women in communities throughout the nation. We Rise is a timeless diary of everyday African American women who have survived to share their stories. These women will forever have everlasting impacts on you, the reader.

Jasmine Poole

Author

Author Jasmine Poole has dedicated her entire life to service, she has been a role model to nearly every younger generation. The well-being of members in her community is paramount to her, and she has made it her life’s work to inspire them to reach towards their life's purpose. She has not only advocated excellence, she has offered herself as a living example to them, she has written five published books. She created We Rise to crown every little black girl and pay respect to every black queen who came before her. All of Jasmine’s stories are created to move the reader into deeper thoughts, most of all to bridge positive development action in the minds of many.

In 2018, Jasmine founded the community nonprofit organization Jesus People Elite Enterprise (JPELITE). After doing so Jasmine facilitated a variety of community empowerment programs to help educate and uplift her community.

Among all Jasmine's accomplishments remains her faith foundation in God. She loves her family and finds strength in them. Jasmine´s ultimate goal is to one day open a community center. Her ultimate purpose in life is to see that goal come to fruition. That is why she has created a platform through her writing to share stories of everyday members in her community. She is a servant leader ready to uplift the next generations voices. Jasmine lives by her quote “I just want to be the person I needed growing up”.
